Open water swimming

Why not take a swim out on the Lake? Wetsuits are available to hire along with tow floats which are required by all. Open swim is available anytime the waterpark is open and lifeguards are on duty.  If you want a quiet swim, try our early bird Saturday AM session before the waterpark opens!

The Lake Kilrea is the only accredited venue in Ireland for the official Open Water Swimathon.

A hugely popular fundraiser for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie raising as much as possible for the two causes close to everyone’s hearts.

Open Water Swimathon participants have the opportunity to take on a challenge as an individual (500m, 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km) or as part of a team (1.5km or 5km). This makes it the perfect challenge for both experienced open water swimmers, and those transferring from the pool to the open water for the first time!

Felt children were safe at all times on the lake due to the experienced lifeguards, excellent Covid 19 measures in place. Would highly recommend for a family day out
